OCR: The San have their own characteristic anguage that includes clicking sounds. These bushmen live in huts built from local materials - the frame is made of branches and the roof is thatched with long grass. It is thought that as few as 2000 San still live in the traditional way, due to the encroachment of modern-day activities - cattle ranching expanded rapidly in the Kalahari in the 1970s, and diamonds, copper, cobalt, coal and nickel are also mined in this desert.
